The Samoan born, Welford Road legend has reportedly signed a new contract with French Giants Racing 92, earning him just short of 850,000 euros per year (according to RugbyPass).

Tuilagi’s imminent departure will sign off the end of an era at Leicester Tigers, the club where he has spent his entire professional career.

The Parisian club that is bankrolled by French millionaire Jacky Lorenzetti want to add Tuilagi to an impressive squad that already includes players such as Finn Russell and Simon Zebo.

The 27-year-old met a host of Racing players during his visit to Paris and it is understood that his employers to be raised the issue of his England ambitions. Tuilagi would sacrifice his Test career if he moved to France but, at 28, the 2019 World Cup could be the peak of his career.

“If Manu plays as well as he does, people across the world are going to offer him huge money” said Murphy. “It’s a difficult one. I genuinely think Manu’s heart is in Leicester”

“He is perfectly within his rights to have a look around, hopefully we will be able to keep Manu” said the Leicester boss.

After being in fine form for England it is not a surprise that Tuilagi has admirers from other clubs, however England fans are likely to detest any move the centre is planning as it will bring his England career to a standstill.

With Tuilagi’s England career just getting going again and an exciting partnership involving Owen Farrell and Henry Slade developing, it will be a shame to see him go.
