BREAKING: Joe Marler retires from international duty

Joe Marler has today announced his decision to retire from international rugby.

Marler, 28, has made the decision to retire so he can spend more time with his family. The decision has come as a shock given his age but he did withdraw from the squad last Sunday due to family reasons.

The ever popular prop has won 59 caps for his country since making his debut in 2012, he was also part of the successful British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand.

Marler said “being with England you have to spend an incredible amount of time away and I cannot do that anymore” Marler said it was an “honour and a privilege” to play for England.

Eddie Jones has stated that he admires his honesty but admitted he was disappointed.

There is no doubt Marler will be a huge loss to the England team with the World Cup only a year away.
