The All Blacks and the Lions fought out a tough draw on Saturday to cap this years series. The tour allowed some of the home nations younger players to show their potential in big occasions; one of them being England man Maro Itoje.
Throughout the tour he has been a strong figure in the set up, echoing past performances for both club and country. Although he put in quality performances, that did not stop the NZ Herald giving him a 4/10 match rating for the second test. A rating which was questioned even by fellow All Blacks.
Since the end to the tour Maro has put the Kiwi paper’s remarks aside, and has even been said to have “put a marker down in world rugby” in this years tour according to Taulupe Faletau, who went on to say “He was phenomenal,”.
The England star helped the Lions to 15-15 draw, which saw both teams lift the trophy to end what was a thrilling tour.
