Warren Gatland and the Lions were successful on their first step to a tour clean sheet after beating the Provincial Barbarians 13-7 on Saturday.
Although the initial XV showed promising signs at the weekend, the Kiwi Head Coach has only kept three names for their fixture on Wednesday against the Blues. Substitutes; Elliot Daly, Rhys Webb and flanker Justin Tipuric are all named for the clash, as Gatland keeps his word to give all the players a chance to prove themselves prior to the upcoming All Blacks fixtures.
Their next fixture sees young England star Maro Itoje play his first game of the tour, which will be interesting considering the potential of the youngster. Gatland has named this side knowing their is more than enough room for improvement on Saturday’s game, stating; “We created some good opportunities against the Barbarians but didn’t see them through and that is something we want to improve on.”
With the game against the Barbarians not living up to expectations considering the quality on the teamsheet, they will have to improve if they want to get a clean sheet against the All Blacks.
