The Australian Rugby Union are set to send either Western Force or the Melbourne Rebels out of Super Rugby at the end of the season.
This decision comes after they came out stating that they “cannot afford five teams” in the tournament. The Aussies are not alone however in the troubles, as South Africa are set to send two of their sides out of the tournament.
As fans from both sides fight the case, a decision will be made by the ARFU within the next few days as to which side will leave the league. It has been argued that Australian Rugby has fallen recently, from what used to be a nation which was fighting for World Rugby dominance not too long ago. Is this lack of funding a sign of the apparent troubles that the Australian Rugby scene faces?
