Semesa Rokoduguni will make himself available to represent Great Britain in the rugby sevens at the Rio Olympics if he is overlooked by Eddie Jones this summer.
The Bath wing won his only cap to date against New Zealand in November 2014 and was only called up by Jones for this season’s Six Nations training squad after Chris Ashton was suspended.
Rokoduguni produced another eye-catching performance out of position in the centre for the Army in the Inter Services showpiece on Saturday and hopes to be included in either the England senior party to tour Australia or the Saxons squad who will head to South Africa in June. If not he will be available for sevens duty in Rio.
“Hopefully there will be something this summer. The only thing I can do now is keep performing every week putting the hard graft in and hopefully the international calls will take care of themselves,” said Rokoduguni.
“Who doesn’t want to play in the Olympics? It’s Rio and everyone is putting their hands up for Rio so if the opportunity is open and I got called up then, yes I would be available
“But I will see what happens with England first. The only thing I can focus on is the game next week against Leicester, train well and, if I make the team, hopefully put in a decent performance.”
