Rugby Union sensation “Super” Maro Itoje may become the sport’s biggest-ever earner.

The 21-year-old, man of the match in England’s Six Nations defeat of Wales on the weekend, dreams of one day captaining his country.

And experts say the 6ft 5ins lock is expected to become England’s first £1million a year player and his potential earnings dwarf the amounts paid to current top players.

The previous highest earner was Jonny Wilkinson , said to have been on £710,000 a year.

Poetry-loving Maro, who won a sports scholarship to top public school Harrow, is described as a “sponsor’s dream”.

The son of Nigerian immigrants, he has signed with the same agency who set up Gareth Bale ’s world record transfer to Real Madrid.

Nigel Currie, a leading marketing and sponsorship expert, said Saracens star Maro will be swamped by offers.

He said: “He will no doubt become the first English player earning in excess of £1million-a-year. But he will easily double that from off-field interests. Maro is a sponsor’s dream.”

The 18st lock’s good looks, intelligence and confidence make him an ideal face for the world’s top brands.

“Maro is unique, and that’s something all sponsors look for,” added Nigel.

“The potential he has is huge. He’s expected to become England captain and is young, so has a good ten to 12 years ahead of him.
