six nations

We select our team of round one of the 2015 Six Nations based on the stand out performers in each of the three games…

1. Joe Marler

Marler scrummaged superbly against an in-form Samson Lee and was heavily involved at the breakdown.

2. Rory Best

Best performed well at the set piece, throwing well at the line-out and was a constant feature at the breakdown.

3. Mike Ross

Ross once again proved why he belongs in the Irish side after an impressive performance in the scrum against a strong Italian pack.

4. Paul O’Connell

O’Connell once more stood-out for Ireland, leading his side to a solid victory, performing well in the line-out and in the loose.

5. Dave Attwood

Attwood ensured England didn’t miss the likes of Lawes and Launchbury in Cardiff after an impressive performance.

6. James Haskell

Haskell was one of England’s stand-out performers carrying well and involving himself heavily at the breakdown.

7. Thierry Dusautoir

Dusautoir proved once more why he is such an important player for France after a series of important turnovers.

8. Taulupe Faletau

Faletau was just about the only Welsh player to leave the game with any credit after setting up a sublime try for Rhys Webb.

9. Conor Murray

Murray once more proved why he is the form scrum half in Europe after another stand-out performance for Ireland.

10. Finn Russell

Russell made a few mistakes in Paris, however he showed great endeavour during the game and made some good breaks.

11. Leigh Halfpenny

Halfpenny played at full back, however another solid performance for Wales means he had to be included in the side.

12. Alex Dunbar

In Dunbar Scotland have finally found a quality centre who they can build their side around as he once again demonstrated in Paris.

13. Jonathan Joseph

Joseph may have got into the England side thanks to injuries, however he should now remain their on merit.

14. Anthony Watson

Watson was impressive form for England and clearly thrived off having Bath teamate Ford playing at fly half.

15. Scott Spedding

Spedding once again proved his worth to France with an assured display at full back as he posed a constant threat.
