KURTLEY Beale’s future in Australian rugby could be in jeopardy with the ARU investigating an incident involving the troubled Wallaby on a flight to South America on Sunday.

The ARU declined to confirm details but it is understood its integrity unit is looking into an alleged episode of verbal abuse by Beale towards a member of the Wallabies management staff on the team’s flight from Johannesburg to Brazil.

The staff member subsequently decided to leave the tour and flew back to Australia on Wednesday night.

The Wallabies are in Argentina preparing to play the Pumas in Mendoza on Saturday and, unusually, McKenzie did not attend the team’s training on Wednesday.

Beale trained with the side and with the ARU not expecting to complete its investigation until after the team arrives home next week, the 25-year-old is likely to play in the Test match on Sunday morning.

But already armed a sizeable off-field rap-sheet, Beale’s long-term future in Australian rugby could be shakier if he is found to have breached the ARU’s code of conduct.
