Three people were stabbed or cut when a domestic dispute got out of hand in the carpark of a Northland rugby club.

Police and ambulance services were called about 11.30pm on Saturday to the carpark of the Moerewa Rugby Club, in Simson Park, after a man, who was not a club member, stabbed one man and cut two others.

There had been a grand final game earlier that day between Moerewa and Kerikeri rugby clubs.

Ambulance spokesman Norm Ngatai said they arrived at the scene at around 11.30pm and two patients were treated, one a 30-year-old male with a stab wound to the head.

Both patients were transported to Bay of Islands Hospital with moderate injuries, said Mr Ngatai.

The patients have since been released.
