Wales captain Sam Waburton could find himself without a club to play for this season after signing a central contract with the WRU earlier this year.
The Welsh skipper finds himself in a difficult situation as the ongoing row between the WRU and regions continues to throw uncertainty over his future.
Warburton finds himself in this unique situation as the only player to have so far signed a central contract in Wales.
Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Scarlets and Dragons have signed a “legally-binding agreement” that stops them selecting players on a central contract.
At the time of signing the contract Warburton was led to believe that he would be able to continue playing for Cardiff Blues, however the ongoing row around regional rugby in Wales means this may no longer be an option.
Regional Rugby Wales have recently reaffirmed that players on a central contract will not be selected by the regions unless the issues with the WRU are resolved.
The ongoing power struggle in Welsh rugby has been a growing concern for fans with the regions expecting a combined loss of £6.7m if a deal cannot be agreed.
