Whilst the majority of the teams in the northern hemisphere have completed the bulk of their transfer activity ahead of the 2014/15 season, there are still a raft of rumours floating around about who might be going where.

The transfer rumour mill is in full swing at the moment as players potentially look for lucrative new deals after the World Cup in 2015. Here are some of the biggest transfer rumours currently doing the rounds;

1. Will Genia to Bath

Reports emerged recently that Bath Rugby have already concluded agreements with a number of players who are set to join them after the World Cup in 2015. Of those mentioned, Will Genia is touted as one of the most likely contenders to head to the Premiership.

2. Bismarck du Plessis to Toulon

South African hooker Bismarck du Plessis was on the verge of joining Toulon recently until a family illness resulted in a last minute change of hear as he opted to stay at home. However rumours are now once again circulating that he could be one of Toulon’s promised fantastic four.

3. Israel Folau to Toulon

Wallaby star Folau is another international strongly linked with a move to the Top 14 with Toulon. Reports emerged last week that Folau is top of Mourad Boudjellal’s list of targets to join his ‘fantastic four’ as Toulon look to maintain their hold on European rugby.

4. Joe Launchbury to Saracens

Launchbury has become one of the mainstay’s in Stuart Lancaster’s England side over the last two seasons which has drawn plenty of attention from Europe’s top clubs. With Launchbury’s contract set to expire next summer Saracens are believed to be one of the frontrunners in the race for his signature.

5. Digby Ioane to Queensland Reds

Bucking the trend of many Wallaby stars in recent years, it is believed Australian flyer Digby Ioane is seeking a return home. A number of recent posts on social media indicate that he is seeking a return to Australia with the Reds believed to be his most likely destination.

6. Nemani Nadolo to the NEC Green Rockets

Nadolo is already dual contracted with the Green Rockets as he prepares for a return to Japan at the conclusion of this years Super Rugby activity. It appears likely he will resign with the Crusaders for next season with both parties keen on a deal, however nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

7. Danny Cipriani to Harlequins

Nick Evans has been an integral part of the Harlequins side in recent years, however at 33 it’s hard to see continuing to play at the top level for too many more years. With Cipriani’s contract at Sale set to expire next summer after a stellar season this year, many believe he could be the man to replace Evans at Harlequins as he seeks a return to London.

8. Kurtley Beale to the Bulldogs

Rumours are now circulating about a potential cross-code move for Beale as he grows frustrated at his failure to claim the number 10 jersey for club and country. With his contract up at the end of next years World Cup and confirmed interest from the Bulldogs head coach it seems a transfer could be on the horizon.

9. Sam Warburton to Northampton Saints

The Welsh flanker has been left in a difficult situation having signed a central contract with the WRU earlier this year. With the current discord between the WRU and regions this means Warburton could find himself without a club next season so could be on the move with rumours suggesting he could be heading to Franklins Gardens.

10. Frederic Michalak to Stade Francais

The Toulon scrum-half seems to have somewhat fallen out of favour at the Stade Felix Mayol and could be set to seek a move elsewhere. Stade Francais are rumoured to be in the market for a new scrum half and are reportedly keen to bring Michalak to the capital.

11. Alex Cuthbert to Racing Metro

This is something of a tenuous link at this stage, however the discord between the WRU and regions could be enough to persuade Cuthbert that his future lies in the Top 14. Whilst it seems unlikely he would seek a move so late in the day, he could be persuaded to move after the World Cup in 2015.

12. James O’Connor to Queensland Reds

It’s been widely known for a number of months now that O’Connor was looking to return to Australia next season in a bid to make the Wallabies World Cup squad. Having burnt bridges at the Force and Rebels the Reds are now believed to be his best option of a return to Super Rugby.

13. Gareth Anscombe to Cardiff Blues

Anscombe is being rumoured as an option for the Cardiff Blues as Warren Gatland sees him as a potential option as the Welsh number 10. Whilst it would be harsh on incumbent Rhys Patchell, Anscombe’s Super Rugby experience could prove too much of a draw for Gatland and the Blues.

14. Johan Goosen to Racing Metro

Rumours are rife that the Cheetahs fly-half could be set to join Racing Metro at the end of the Super Rugby season to provide competition to Johnny Sexton. There’s no doubt he would be an excellent signing for the Parisian club and all the rumours are pointing to this deal coming sooner rather than later.
