With the Aviva Premiership, Top 14, Pro 12 and Super XV all in action this weekend alongside a whole host of other rugby there was plenty to keep up busy. Below are our top 5 winners from this weekends action;

1. Marcelo Bosch

Saracens Argentine midfielder seems to have settled into the club with apparent ease this season, however he served up an internet sensation as he knocked over a penalty from 60+ metres with apparent ease. The amazing thing is that despite striking it with no apparent venom it looked like it could easily have gone another 10 metres and still gone over it. For a bonus listen to the BT Sport commentary of the moment in the video below.

2. Glasgow Warriors

The Glasgow Warriors recorded two famous victories this weekends as they defeated Munster at Thomond Park whilst their sevens side captured the Melrose Sevens title. In defeating Munster at Thomond Park Glasgow broke a home record of 13 straight home games without defeat. Meanwhile in their first appearance at the oldest sevens tournament in the World the Glasgow team romped to victory.

3. The Honey Badger

He’s become a YouTube sensation over the last 12 months for his hilarious one liners including the likes of “sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage” and “busier than a one armed brick layer in Baghdad”. However this weekend Nick Cummins proved that he is more than just an internet phenomenon as he scored a hat-trick of tries against a star-studded Waratahs side as the Western Force recorded their fifth successive victory.

4. Piri Weepu

The news over the weekend that All Blacks and Blues scrum-half Piri Weepu has recovered from a minor stroke was great news for the wider rugby community. After having surgery to repair a hole in his heart believed to have caused the problem it now looks like Weepu could be fit to face the Warratahs next Friday.

Tri Nations - South Africa v New Zealand, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, 20 August 2011

5. Matt Whaanga

16-year old South Otago High School centre recorded a 60 point haul in his sides crushing 70 – 5 victory over James Hargest College. Whaanga scored 10 tries and claimed 5 conversions during the victory, although would have claimed a much higher points total had he not of missed sevens shots at goal.
