The November Internationals are over with the Wallabies narrowly beating Wales 30-26, while the Barbarians easily accounted for Fiji 43-19.
The Barbarians predictably dominated set pieces and eventually overpowered the Fijians with Springbok legends Bismarck du Plessis and Jean de Villiers bagging two tries each while All Black Charles Piutau scored a stunning try, Tom Taylor and Duane Vermeulen both scored tries too.
Not to be outdone Fiji fullback Niko Matawalu had an inspired game as the Islanders scored three tries.
Meanwhile Wallabies fly half Quade Cooper produced a top level performance (despite getting a yellow card) in his 50th test, while Christian Leali’fano scored 20 points to lift the Wallabies to a narrow victory. Australia have a knack of beating Wales and this continued. Israel Folau and Joseph Tomane scored the other tries for the Wallabies.
George North showed his class with two tries for Wales who just couldn’t quite get across the line to beat the Wallabies.
It was a great way to end the season for the Wallabies, while it gives Wales plenty to work on heading into the Six Nations early next year.
Lancaster wins the Super Rugby Tips SuperBru competition with a yellow cap winning performance. The Chosen One (that’s me) finished second. Lancaster picked was just the closest to picking the Barbarians winning margin picking a 25 point margin, while I picked 21 points. The actual margin was 24 points. Rugby is a game of inches!
