After much fan-fair but very little substance to date, BT have finally announced the details of their newly arranged sports packages. The great news is that Premiership rugby fans who are BT customers will be able to potentially watch 69 live games per year for free, whilst for non-customers the £12 a month seems like ridiculously good value given the cost of current Sky packages.

The package will also include live Premiership football, UFC, Moto GP and Red Bull sports as well as potentially European club rugby competitions depending on the outcome of ERC internal wrangling. The channels have already signed up Jake Humphreys, Clare Balding and England rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio. You can find out more about the specific details below;

Whilst receiving Premiership Rugby at such fantastic value is a strong pull the concern is that the majority of internationals are still retained by Sky, whilst the Rabo Direct have also just agreed a deal with Sky. In addition the unresolved issue of European club rugby means there are no guarantees of receiving competitions on BT. It is however a massive leap forwards in bringing rugby to a wider audience as top class competition is finally available at real value for fans.
