It has not yet been announced by the man himself, but Warren Gatland is to add to his squad for the All Blacks fixtures. He is due to announce his decision post game tomorrow, leaving there to be something to look forward to no matter the result. This not only goes for the fans, as the handful of call ups also do not know who is to be called up to boost the strength of the side.

Although this information is not announced by Lions staff, it still comes from a reliable source; All Blacks Coach Steve Hansen, who stated that he received a tip off about the five or six additions to the 41 man squad. It would not be a surprise for Gatland to call up a name that has caused quite a shock in it’s original absence from the sheet; former Bath man George Ford, who is currently with England in Argentina improving his leadership skills against the Pumas.

Although Ford is a likely option, the Welshmen are a more sensible one, with them currently being in New Zealand on their summer tour.

With this news being leaked, it will be interesting to see how the side for Saturday react to the decision with the performances so far not quite being up to All Blacks beating standards.

The Lions play the New Zealand Maori’s in tomorrows game at the Rotorua International Stadium. Coverage starts at 8am on Sky Sports 1. Who are you expecting Gatland to name to join the squad for the rest of the tour?
