Saracens man Billy Vunipola will miss the British and Irish Lions tour next month down to an ongoing injury.
Vunipola, who was undoubtably going to play a big role in the Lions tour has been battling with a shoulder injury, which has now taken a turn for the worse at the worst possible time for the 24 year old; with the injury now requiring further treatment.
Although, all is not lost for the Lions in Vunipola’s absence, with Gatland revealing one of his mystery standby players to be England’s James Haskell, who will be up for the challenge of filling in Vunipola’s absence after his disappointment at being left out of the original 41 man squad.
Gatland has said to The Courier that “We really appreciate his (Vunipola) honesty in making this decision and wish him luck with his recovery.” which I’m sure won’t be enough to sooth his frustration on missing out on the tour.
Haskell is set to join the squad for training next Sunday; who thinks that he can fill the gap of the monstrous forward?
