Sale boss Steve Diamond met with the RFU to discuss his punishment for abusive language towards match officials in their clash with Harlequins at the start of the month.
The RFU has given him a lengthy 6 week ban for the matter, which will be served in two three week periods; one now, and one at the end of the 2018/19 season if he is seen to reoffend before then. Diamond did not get off with just a ban however, as he also received a £3000 fine, which will be paid in the same way as his ban from the touchline.
The Rugby Football Union do not take such situations lightly, stating; “Such behaviour is contrary to the spirit of rugby and the core values of the game..”
Sale go to Saracens this weekend, who thinks they will get by without the boss?
