If there is one thing we like to see, it is quality Rugby and Scotland coach Vern Cotter believes the new Six Nations ‘bonus point’ rule will bring in even more exciting play into what is already a great tournament.

The rule which will see any team which scores 4 tries or more, or loses by less than 7 points receive a bonus point; meaning a team could lose and still come away with 2 points. Cotter stated; “Are the bonus points going to change the way teams play? I think it will, you will probably see a few more risks in the game and that may open up.”

This is definitely one thing we will appreciate if Cotter’s view is correct, as we already see quality Rugby year in year out in the Six Nations and we should see even more. With the rule and great players such as Itoje, Zebo and Ford, this years tournament has the potential to be better than previous years.

We’ll see if Cotter is correct when the tournament kicks off with his team taking on Ireland on the 4th of February at Murrayfield.
