James Haskell returned to play at the weekend after six months out due to injury, only to play less than a minute before suffering concussion and having to leave the field of play. This follows a number of concussions in recent history which have led to rule changes concerning high and dangerous tackles.
Haskell will miss Wasps’ next Champions Cup game against Toulouse which will take place this weekend at the Ricoh Arena, which will be a blow for Wasps, but nothing new down to them putting up without him for six months. Although, it is not all bad for Wasps as Joe Launchbury is set to return this weekend following his time out with a calf injury that he picked up last month.
It will be a test for Wasps and a spectacle for all fans with two top teams coming together and it will be good to see Joe back in action. The game has been dubbed as ‘crucial’ by Wasps director of Rugby Dai Young as they sit joint top of pool 2 with Connacht and this weekend’s opponents, Toulouse.
Not only will Wasps be happy with Joe’s return, but it will also be music to the ears of England coach Eddie Jones as he faces fluctuating injury woes leading to the much anticipated tournament.
