It is reported by that Alun-Wyn Jones is set to replace Sam Warburton as Wales captain.

Sam Warburton has made the personal decision to step back from the role to give himself the time to improve his form as he believes his recent performances were not up to scratch. Warburton will look to return to the position once he is back to top form, but with Jones’ experience with Wales and Lions captaincy it could prove difficult for Warburton regain the position.

Although, there is no reason why such a quality captain will not get back into his spot in the Welsh set up; it could also potentially bring Jones closer to the desired captains armband when the Lions tour comes around later this year. Jones will definitely be one of Gatland’s first options, with quality in abundance and over 100 games for Wales, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be.

It will be interesting to see how Wales perform in the Six Nations where they face an unbeaten England side and a growing presence
