A three year medical study in France has sought to establish which positions on the rugby field are most likely to see players getting injured.
The study catalogued all of the injuries that have forced players off of the rugby field in the Top14 between 2012-2015. Front rowers made up 26% of the 2,208 injuries recorded, with hookers appearing to come off worst of all.
The study also showed that half backs were the most likely positions to receive an injury outside of the front row. In total, the front-row and half-backs made up 43% of all permanent injury substitutions in the three-season study.
