Alex King, the Northampton Saints backs coach, has become the latest target for Eddie Jones’s new-look England coaching team, Telegraph Sport has revealed.
It is understood that Jones has already expressed an interest in signing the former Wasps fly-half, 40, to join his coaching team as an attack and skills coach.
While Northampton said last night there had not yet been a formal approach from the Rugby Football Union, it is understood the club are aware of Jones’s interest and a deal could be completed before the end of the week.
It is thought that Jones sees King as the final piece in his new-look team, joining Steve Borthwick and Paul Gustard as the replacements for Andy Farrell, Graham Rowntree and Mike Catt, who were formally released from their England contracts yesterday.
