Former Australia coach refuses to rule out replacing Stuart Lancaster after Rugby World Cup
Eddie Jones, the Japan coach, has admitted he would be interested in replacing Stuart Lancaster should the RFU decide to replace the England head coach following their disappointing Rugby World Cup campaign.
Jones, the Tasmania-born coach who has led Japan to the brink of the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in history, said on Sunday that he would “certainly chat to them [RFU] if they thought I was the right man for the role”.
England’s campaign came to a stuttering end on Saturday night following the 33-13 defeat to Australia at Twickenham with several observers calling for Lancaster to leave to post he took up in 2011.
However, while the RFU have yet to make statement regarding Lancaster’s future, the clamour for his resignation has started to grow.
