The Pro12 may struggle to attract the kind of attention that the Premiership or Top 14 does, but there have been some decent signings for the new season…

15.Isa Nacewa

The Leinster legend is set to return.

14.Luke McLean

The Italian player is returning to Italy.

13.Francis Saili

A huge signing for Munster.

12.DTH van der Merwe

The Canadian international heads to the Scarlets.

11.Charles Piutau

A huge coup for Ulster as they sign a current All Black.

10.Johnny Sexton

One of the best 10’s in the world is set to return home.

9.Mike Blair

Possibly past his best, but still a solid signing.

8.Gareth Delve

A huge statement of intent by the Ospreys.

7.Robert Barbieri

A big signing from Leicester Tigers.

6.Simone Favaro

The Italian international is a big coup for Glasgow.

5.Filo Paulo

A big loss for Cardiff, but huge gain for Treviso.

4.Tom Palmer

The former England international is a decent signing.

3.Alberto de Marchi

Struggled in the Premiership, but still a solid signing.

2.Kieran Low

Not normally a hooker, but squeezes in for the time being.

1.Paul James

Another huge signing for the Ospreys.

About In The Loose Team

One comment

  1. This article is absolutely pathetic. Was it cobbled together during a lunch break by any chance? It is uninformative lacking any sort of critical appraisal. It would also appear that background research is lacking.

Firstly, you discuss this as a ‘Transfer XV’. A player coming out of retirement is not a transfer.

Secondly, you only list both teams involved in the transfers for 1 player! For example ‘Luke McLean – The Italian player is returning to Italy’. Which teams are involved?

Thirdly, your comments regarding the players are inaccurate. For example ‘Gareth Delve – A huge statement of intent by the Ospreys’. The signing of Gareth Delve is anything but a huge statement of intent. He is an ageing player in decline who has been signed as depth to cover the losses of Ospreys back rowers during the RWC. He will be at best 3rd choice Number 8 behind Dan Baker and Tyler Ardron.

Fourthly, could you not find a Hooker for the XV? Argentinian international Bruno Postiglioni signed for Zebre.

    Incredibly lazy sports writing.
