My Dream XV

dream xv

I’ve selected a team based around my favourite players who fit a particular style. This isn’t a world’s best, just simply a XV I would love to see come together at some stage…

15.Stuart Hogg

Pace, skill, a monster boot and a never say die attitude in defence combine to make Stuart Hogg one of the best players in Europe.

14.Willie le Roux

One of the most exciting talents in world rugby, capable of creating magic with a kick, pass or run, definitely someone worth watching.

13.Rene Ranger

Ranger is the perfect combination of brute force and flair, just as likely as he is to run over you as he is to run around you.

12.Matt Giteau

In the finest form of his career, and able to step in as a second receiver, Giteau has the perfect skill set to open up the backs around him.

11.Nehe Milner-Skudder

The young Hurricanes outside back has had an incredible season in Super Rugby, and looks set for a call up sooner rather than later.

10.Francois Trinh-Duc

Criminally overlooked by France of late, Trinh-Duc has to be one of the best playmakers in European rugby.

9.Danny Care

He may have gone off the boil slightly of late, but he is a constant threat around the breakdown and has incredible pace.

8.Nathan Hughes

The wasps backrower has been in incredible form this year, and is one of the most potent ball carriers in the Premiership.

7.Michael Hooper

His past experience of playing in the centres really shows in the way he carries and distributes the ball.

6.Mamuka Gorgodze

A beast of a man who isn’t afraid to put himself about a bit. Big hits and monstrous runs are just a few weapons in his armoury.

5.Samu Manoa

Manoa is currently one of the most complete forwards in rugby who uses his power to great effect, but knows when to add subtlety to his game.

4.Leone Nakarawa

Nakarawa regularly puts in the kind of off-loads Sonny Bill Williams would be proud of, making him one of the most exciting forwards around.

3.Ben Tameifuna

The huge Chiefs prop has become a bit of a YouTube sensation, thanks in large part to his barnstorming runs in Super Rugby.

2.Schalk Brits

Brits looks more like an additional back rower with the way he runs and carries the ball, and helps bring others into the game.

1.Logovi’i Mulipola

The sight of Mulipola charging flat out down the field truly is something to behold, and makes him a dangerous ball carrier.
