Six Nations Round 3 Review

Six Nations 2014 has been blown wide open with results which saw the previously unbeaten France and Ireland lose to pre-tournament favourites Wales and England. In the other match, Scotland won a nail-biter against Italy thanks to a late drop goal. You could say Six Nations Round 3 2014 had everything. The Six Nations 2014 competition now has four teams tied on four points from two wins each, with two rounds remaining. This makes every game like a final.

Wales regained their mojo by easily beating France in a 27 – 6 in a match 27-6. Warren Gatland finally pulled the right strings as his team won the most one sided match of Six Nations Round 3. It is ironic given that they themselves were on the wrong end of a lopsided scoreline in Six Nations Round 2 against Ireland.

England fullback Mike Brown earned the praise of Ireland coach Joe Schmidt as he played a major role in helping his team beat the previously unbeaten Ireland 13-10. The Harlequins connection helped Danny Care score a vital five pointer for England. Sure this match wasn’t high scoring, but it was an important result for England and brings Ireland back to the chasing pack.

Under fire Scotland coach Scott Johnson will be breathing a sigh of relief after his team won 21-20 over Italy courtesy of a late drop goal by Duncan Weir to lift them off the foot of the Six Nations Championship. Any win away from home is a great effort in Six Nations rugby, so well done Scotland!

In SuperBru all three games really divided the tipsters with 43 percent picking Wales to beat France, although the margin was somewhat bigger than expected. 44 percent of tipsters picked Scotland to beat Italy, which was brave in itself given their lead up form. 59 percent of tipsters picked England to beat Ireland. Micko won the yellow cap and now leads the Super Rugby Tips conference as one of six tipsters who picked all six winners. This round divided so many tipsters! Fans now have a week off in anticipation of Six Nations Round 4 when the big match is definitely England vs Wales.
