ITM Cup Round 5 Review – Home Teams Dominate!

itm cupITM Cup Round 5 was a Mickey Mouse round with every single game being won by the home teams no matter what kind of form they brought into the round.  Teams like Waikato, North Harbour and Taranaki’s first win surprised most SuperBru tipsters.  It was also funny how some games expected to be walkovers like Canterbury vs Otago and Wellington vs BOP were closer than expected, while the Ranfurly Shield thrashing by Counties over Taranaki was anything but the anticipated nail-biter.

Canterbury and Wellington are still the hottest property in the ITM Cup.  At the other end of the table the Southland Stags have hit rock bottom.  Because of wins by both North Harbour and Manawatu, the Stags now sit stone-cold motherless last in the Championship.  How the mighty have fallen!

In the Super Rugby Tips SuperBru conference Morales is still out in the lead, while yours truly was stumped by some upsets which usually happen earlier in the season.  Teams like North Harbour and Waikato secured important but unexpected wins.  Spartan had a huge runs, maybe picking all home teams isn’t a bad strategy!
