Ben Smith was my Super Rugby Player of 2013.  He was a constant threat with ball in hand and on the counter-attack and was one of the only bright lights for the Highlanders in 2013.  Am I being biased here as a Highlanders fan?

Below are some other players who were great in Super Rugby 2013, who do you think was the best player in Super Rugby 2013?

New Zealand
There were some great performances by New Zealand players in Super Rugby 2013.  Some players who impressed me were Wyatt Crockett, Sam Whitelock, Dan Carter, Aaron Cruden and Rene Ranger.

I thought George Smith’s return to Super Rugby was brilliant.  Ben Mowen, Stephen Moore and Christian Lealifano were all great for the Brumbies too.  I thought Scott Higginbotham was great for the Rebels, although his season was disrupted by injury.

South Africa

I didn’t see as many games featuring South African teams but I still think Morne Steyn played well.  Lappies Labuschagne was a revelation while other players like Deon Fourie, Willie Le Roux and Adriaan Strauss.
