Interview With Bath & England Full-Back Nick Abendanon

nick abendanon bath rugbyWith the new season rapidly approaching Bath & England full back Nick Abendanon takes some time out to answer our questions about Bath’s ambitions this season and his own personal hopes for club and country…

How’s pre-season treating you so far?

I’ve had 2 operations during the off season so not much of a Pre-Season for me so far.
Are you doing anything differently compared to this time next year?

No not really. Everything is pretty similar apart from we are going to Poland for Pre Season camp.

How do you feel last season went? Want would you have changed and what were you pleased with?

Last season was a disappointment for the club. If we had played the sort of rugby we started playing from Christmas throughout the whole season, I think it would have been a different result for us.

What are your ambitions for this season both as a club and personally?

Ambitions are always to try and win silverware but as a club and personally I would love to be able to play Heineken Cup rugby next year.

What do you think you will need to do to get back into the England set-up?

Need to just keep playing well and hope I get a break.

Who are you most looking forward to playing alongside this season?

Always love to play alongside Kyle Eastmond he’s got fantastic skills and dirty feet which I love to watch.

How is it training under Gary Gold?

Gary is a very meticulous coach who is very passionate about the game. There is not a single detail that he misses which makes it great for us preparing for games.

What’s the best thing about being at Bath?

The training facilities are world class which makes coming to work every day an absolute joy. I also love the city in general, it’s such an incredible place.

Would you like to see the Rec renovated?

Yes I would love to see the Rec redeveloped but I can’t see it happening in my playing days.

Do you hold any ambitions of playing abroad at some point in the future?

I still have two years left of my contract at Bath and then we will see, I would never rule it out though.

Would you prefer to win the Heineken Cup or Premiership title?

Heineken Cup

Who’s the biggest joker at Bath?

Tom Biggs

Who spends longest in the mirror?

Dom Day

Any players you would love to play alongside at some point?

Dan Carter

Who’s been your toughest opponent?

Leicester

Best of luck to Nick and Bath ahead of the new season, things certainly seem to be building well under Gary Gold with a raft of top class signings and an air of anticipation building around The Rec…
